I vividly remember the first time I went on a holiday without my parents. It was a girls only trip with a local organisation to the mountains of Switzerland. I had never seen mountains before and I’ll never forget the feeling of sheer awe when, with sleepy eyes after a night of almost no sleep on the bus, I saw the first mountains rising up at the horizon. This trip to Switzerland was a real eye opener for me: new foods, new environments and experiences that i would take home with me for the rest of my life. I cherish the pictures of that trip (taken with a small point and shoot analogue camera) to this day.
After this first experience, you can say my appetite for travelling only grew. I discovered Europe first and slowly expanded my horizon to other continents: North America, Australia and Asia. My curiosity is never satisfied and I can’t get enough of exploring new places: get to know the people, understanding the culture and history, learn a few (or more) words in a new language, taste the local cuisine and just enjoy all that a new city or country has to offer. That’s not to say I have never returned to a place. Sometimes you know you’ve only scratched the surface and you have the urge to go back, to dig deeper, to revisit a place to find some new insights. A second (or third) visit opens the possibility to go off the beaten track and explore more quirky places a normal tourist wouldn’t visit due to lack of time.
On this blog I want to share with you my travel tips and stories. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask them in the comments. I’ll gladly provide you with an answer.
