Musee de la Corse: “Very interesting museum”

If you want to learn more about the history of Corsica, this is the place to be. The museum a beautiful mixture of an historic building with modern elements added. The architecture is really outstanding in itself.

The collection is not big, but nicely presented (although sometimes better lighting would have come in handy).

A suggestion: try to insulate the music capsules better, the way they are set up now, you can here the music of the other capsules seeping in.

U Passa tempu: “Value for money”

We had a nice dinner on the lovely terrace of U Passa Tempu, in the historic center of Corte, while swallows were flying around in the evening sky. Food was nice, good value for money. I enjoyed my Filet St.-Pierre and my boyfriend’s pizza campagnarde was also good. For only 10 euros my boyfriend got a very large pizza. After the main course I couldn’t resist ordering an ice cream.

The service was good, but I have to add that the girl who served us clearly had a horrible day. She didn’t seem to enjoy her job at all and she wasn’t very friendly or helpful. Luckely the young, male waiter was the total opposite. He was lovely, charming and very funny. He also spoke excellent English. Too bad not every staff member was as enjoyable as this guy.

Definitely would have dinner here again.

U Museu: “Great food, beautiful terrace”

U Museu is a lovely restaurant right in the city center of Corte. As the name suggests, you’ll find this restaurant close to the museum of Corsica. The beautiful terrace is fully covered, so you’ll always can eat in the shade.

Food is excellent. After a first time having lunch here (I had the risotto de quinoa aux gambas et St-Jacques and my boyfriend the Burger u Casanu), we returned for dinner on the 14th of July the national holiday in France. We made no reservations, so sadly we couldn’t sit outside on the terrace. The waiter was very friendly though and offered us a place inside nearby an open window. Again, the food was delicious. My boyfriend ordered a pizza and I went for the tuna with foie gras, an interesting and very tasty combination.

Service is friendly en professional. Even when it was very busy we didn’t have to wait long for our meal.

We had a great time at restaurant U Museu and definitely will go back when in the area.

Auberge de la Restonica, Restaurant: “Great food, but a little bit pricey”

While staying in the Hotel Jardins de la Glacière, we went for dinner at the Auberge de la Restonica. We had a table on the terrace nearby the pool, but there are also tables available near the Restonica river.

The food was very good, but more expensive than average in Corsica. I ordered the fish of the day: Langoustines Corses snackées, riz blanc, persillade, toast de tapenade à la tomate confit. Very good! I also had a taste of the filet Restonica, my boyfriend ordered. The meat was perfectly cooked en very tender. Lovely!

As a dessert I had some icecream while my boyfriend enjoyed a glass of limoncello. Both were excellent.

Only one minor issue: we had to wait very long before we could pay the bill.

Les Jardins De La Glaciere: “Beautiful location, great breakfast”

We stayed for 3 nights in Hotel Jardins de la Glacière. The hotel is situated somewhat outside the city center of Corte. You can go by food, but I would not recommend it, since it can be a somewhat dangerous walk due to the traffic situation.

Our room was nice and spacious. The bed was very big and sleep quality was excellent. The airco worked very well (always a plus). Wifi was good. The bathroom was beautiful, but it was a pity there was only a bath tub and no shower. Not ideal to freshen yourself up quickly.

Breakfast was truly excellent. Choices were plenty: scrambles eggs, pastries, different kinds of bread, charcuterie Corse, cheese, home made yoghurt, cake, fresh fruit,…. My favorite was the outstanding chocolate cake. So very good!

The swimming pool was rather small, but who needs a swimming pool when you have the beautiful Restonica river to swim in? Nothing more refreshing than cool, natural water. The fact that you have access from the garden to this beautiful place, was definitely an extra plus for me.

You can’t have dinner in this hotel, but a nearby hotel offers lunch and dinner so you can always go there if you don’t want the hassle of going into the city center.
