Le Langoustier: “Nice view”

There are lots of restaurants in Centuri offering more or less the same, so it is hard to figure out if you’re entering a tourist trap or not. We were quite content we visited Le Langoustier. We enjoyed a very nice view on the setting sun and the seafood of the Formule Grand Large was tasty. Not exceptional, but value for money.

Food came very quick and staff was friendly. Even though we spoke French our waitress insisted in serving us in English. Which is nice if you don’t speak French. I liked the fiadone (Corsican cheese cake) as a dessert.

Do visit the toilet, you’ll get a very nice view from there!

Le perchoir: “Outstanding view”

Le Perchoir is a restaurant with an outstanding view on the harbour of Bastia. We had lunch here in the shade and really enjoyed the view on the ships passing by. The food was also nice. Not really outstanding, but just good old fashioned honest food. My boyfriend ordered a goat cheese burger and I went for the squid. The squid was served in a red, tasty sauce with rice. Simple, but nice.

Service could be friendlier and more inviting.

Espace Horloger – Vallee de Joux: “Mixed feelings”

Mixed feelings about this place. You can’t deny that this museum has put a lot of effort in modernizing their exhibition: 3D-movies, tablet, fancy interactive multimedia tables. They really do their best to make the experience of learning about the fine craftsmanship of making watches fun. But somehow they didn’t manage to grab my interest, perhaps there was just too much information?

I enjoyed the beautiful collection of watches and clockworks the most. The 3D-movie was also very nicely done. The children however were quickly bored. The lady from the museum clearly wasn’t comfortable having 3 children visit her museum. She was always hovering around making sure the children weren’t misbehaving and putting everything back in place.

Visiting time took about an hour, depending on how many extra information you want to read.

Brasserie des Europeens: “Nice sunny terrace”

We enjoyed lunch on this big and sunny terrace nearby the historical city center of Annecy. We arrived a little bit early, I guess, because at 11.45h the terrace was fully decked but no sign of waiters whatsoever. Which made us a bit nervous, because we had booked a boat tour at 13h. Luckily the lunch staff arrived soon thereafter and we could place our order.

The four adults decided on the thai fish curry, while the three children all ordered the children’s menu. We specifically asked if it was possible to bring our order quickly due to the time restraints we faced. The ober was very kind and assured us this was no problem.

And indeed our food arrived very quickly. Bonus points for the lovely plate of fish and chips the children got. The portion was big enough to serve an adult. The fish curry really was a treat: full of different kinds of fish accompanied by a lovely spicy curry. Yummy!

As a dessert the children got pancakes with chocolate. Very nice!

Prices were reasonable. Our only complaint was the noise of all the passing cars. Annecy really should rethink the traffic situation in their city. Now it is a total mess.

P’tit Bar: “Colorful place to have lunch”

This little bar is a colorful place with some healthy lunch options, fresh pressed juices and a nice tea selection. The vibe is friendly and relaxed and there are toys for the children to play with.

I tried the fresh apple juice with ginger and ordered a salad with tomatoes, olives and apple (the moroccan carrots where not availabel), accompanied by a tartine of artichoke. The salad was kind of small, but tasty.

In general this place has an alternative feel to it.

Creperie Beaurepaire: “Great pancakes”

Nice Crêperie in the old city center of Lille. This Crêperie offers a lovely selection of sweet and savory pancakes. So many options to choose from! This restaurant has 3 floors in total, so although it doesn’t seem like it from the outside, it actually is quite a big place.

After ordering we got our pancakes very fast. Services was a bit nonchalant, but for the prices we paid, we can’t complain. My hot chocolate was also very nice.

Seafood Sylt meets Asia: “Good airport food”

SeafoodSylt was a pleasant surprise in Munich airport. Most of the time airport food just isn’t that good, but turns out SeafoodSylt managed to surprise us.

I ordered a Chicken Phở (a Vietnames noodle soup) which was actually nice, but my friend hit the jackpot with his red curry with duck. Very tasty and even spicier than expected.

Staff is friendly and service is adequate. I would definitely eat here again on a stopover.

HERTOG JAN: “Very good, but not exceptional”

An evening at 3 star restaurant Hertog Jan is surely something special. We started our evening with a friendly welcome from a nice young lady who offered us a refreshing lemonade. We got the chance to go for a walk in the garden. An opportunity we took with both hands. How often can you enjoy a walk in the garden of a 3 star restaurant? The garden is huge and very well organized. We were looking forward to try all of the fresh produce.

The interior of the restaurant is very chic with big windows looking out on the garden. There is lots of room so you won’t be bothered by the other clients in the restaurant.

Service was as could be expected from a restaurant like this. Very professional, but a little bit too perfect to my taste. I honestly always find it a little bit silly when the waiters fold your napkin for you when you are off to the bathroom. They also placed a little stool by my chair for a handbag. Since I hadn’t a handbag with me, it was ideal to place my phone on. 😉

Food was very good, but somehow not as exceptional as I was expecting. Every plate was dressed with a lot of care and gorgeous to look at. I did find some of the dishes overly complicated. And I have to say I was honestly disappointed by the amount of salt and sauce suppressing the lovely taste of the wonderful wagyu beef. Beef like that can shine on itself.

With each course we had a lovely glass of wine included in the menu, but we never got a refill. The dessert wine was not included. I do have to say that I found the price tag not totally corresponding with the food and drinks we got. Of course you pay for the name of the restaurant also.

All in all we had a very delicious evening.

D’ Achtste Zaligheid: “Heerlijke feestmaaltijd”
